Notice Required for Changing FMLA 12-Month Period Employers have the option under the Family and Medical Leave Act to choose the 12-month period they will use for determining employee eligibility for FMLA leave under their policy. However, once that option is chosen and communicated to employees, the employer must give all employees 60 days notice before changing to the new option.

The Myth About Quoting to Reduce Your Cost of Workers’ Compensation Most business owners and managers purchase workers’ compensation insurance in the wrong way. About 90 to 120 days before their policies expire, they put it out to bid and get quotes. It’s not only the least effective way to control workers’ compensation insurance expenses but, by ignoring the real cost drivers in workers’ compensation, it actually drives up the costs.

Unpaid Suspension for Exempt Employees Under FLSA The Fair Labor Standards Act narrowly defines what deductions may be made from the salary of an exempt employee. Full day suspensions without pay may be made for penalties imposed in good faith for infractions of safety rules of major significance or for workplace conduct rule infractions.
